I solved this problem following Narayanan's method recently. But he forgot to mention you have to disable norton identity safe and Symprotect Tamper Protection (norton settings) before editing the setting.liveupdate file and changing it to a higher value.

Seema gave a gift to her sister Meena (some agricultural land). The Gift was conveyed thru a Registered Gift Deed. Subsequently the sisters had a fight, and Meena returned the Registered Gift Deed document to Meena.

Seema (the Donor) subsequently told Meena, that she had got the Gift Deed cancelled. Please explain to me., what Meena's position is. Is she the owner., or with the surrendering of the Regd. Gift Deed., she has surrendered all her rights., and all her rights have ceased to exist. (She holds a photocopy of the same registered document, however).

The issue is caused by your firewall. I had the same problem for nearly two weeks.

Increasing the timeout allows your firewall more time to scan the packets from the live update server.

Another solution is to whitelist or write an exception for outbound traffic from your server's IP address.

The liveupdate.settings file also has records for HOST which seem to also point to what may be old corporate liveupdate servers. Find a computer that has working settings and replace the lines beginning with HOST from that file into the file on the system with the issue. That resolved my issues with this error.

Can someone describe in more detail how to locate the setting.liveupdate file, how to open it, how to save it etc. I've tried to open it with Word, but it won't let me save it in the same location...
I don't know much about computers, so the simpler, the better. I'm having trouble with the LU1835 time-out message and would love to know how exactly to increase the default time-out. Please help! Thanks so much!

uDay it is easy to fix this. In the Liveupdate folder, right click setting.liveupdate and select Properties. Uncheck the 'Read Only' box and click Apply. You can now save the file again - remember to change the permission back to 'Read Only' and clicking 'Apply' again.
